Pictures with Person-ality

Inspired by fellow photography enthusiasts, such as Willis J. Kier and vafann, I spent time working on taking photographs with people in them, and also playing around with photographic style, image titles and such.  I typically only capture friends and family in my photographs, if I point the camera toward humans at all.  I felt brave, daring…and sort of invasive!  Lol  I hope you enjoy the results.

I started small with just a side view of part of a person. These “Woodle Orange” tomatoes are pretty and delicious, if you like tomatoes, that is. (Bleh!)

a man sleeping on a park bench

This photo was quickly and nervously taken during a vacation to Hot Springs, Arkansas. At first I felt like I was invading someone’s privacy; but it WAS on a PUBLIC bench, right?

I liked the effort this man was putting into capturing his perfect photo. I had one quick chance to take this image as we sped by in heavy traffic. With a little editing, it turned out to be a decent shot, I think.

families watching the sun set from the St. Louis Gateway Arch

Have you ever taken in the view from these windows? These families are watching the sun set through the windows of the St. Louis Gateway Arch. This year is the 50th anniversary of its completion.

young boy climbing on log suspended over racing river

My heart was in my throat while I watched this young boy climb down the log above the edge of a ten-foot waterfall, dangle for a while as he attempted to climb down, and finally clamber back onto the top of the log and crawl back to shore.

We happened to arrive at the locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, in time to watch this tour boat squeeze past a barge in the lock before they were both lowered down and released to continue on their journeys.

This One’s for the Birds, and I’m Happy About It!

During our recent trip to the Great Lakes, I was surprised by how many seagulls were on the beaches in Ohio and Michigan.  I really enjoyed interacting with them, as they are definitely not shy!

They gracefully turn, twist, and hover in the air in ways that we as humans can only imagine doing.

Isn’t nature amazing?  There are so many simple pleasures to enjoy in this varied world in which we live.

“Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not of more value than they?

~Matthew 6:25-26

I’m so thankful I have the health and means to get out and enjoy moments like these.
