Photo 101: Solitude 3.0

Day 5 goal:  Practice the “rule of thirds” in your photos.

Here’s a solitary…something. Do any of you know what this is? It looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss cartoon.

I’m always desiring to learn and improve upon my photography.  If you have the time, I’d really appreciate hearing your opinion:  Would you compare this post to the previous two and leave a comment telling me which one you like best and why?  Thanks!

Solitude 2.0 — A flowering tree caught my attention and worked well for this theme.

Solitude 1.0 — It was just me and my shadow representing this theme the first time I participated in Photo 101.

UPDATE:

Hey, everyone.  Thanks to a simple (Duh!) suggestion, I used Google Earth to trace the path we drove that day.  Just as I was reaching to click it off and give up, I saw this crazy, crooked tower in the corner of the screen!  With a little research, I figured out what it is.  Here’s a link that explains it. (There is a description under the photo that explains more about it.)

  1. Look at the wires holding it to the ground. Look at the blue flags on the wires at the ground. Wonder if it is some kind of sundial. Perhaps the thing on the top rotates and the flag that the pointed end casts a shadow on, is the hour of the day. Just a crazy thought on my part. lol

    • What a simple idea! Why didn’t I think of that? My brain doesn’t seem to be working well today. Lol I often see people ask questions and think “Why are they asking that question? They are on the internet — why don’t they just ‘Google’ it?”

    • Thanks so much for your suggestion! I searched Google Earth until I felt cross-eyed, using vacation photos to try to remember the path we drove that day and pinpoint the area it was likely in. Just as I was giving up, I found it! I updated the post with a link describing the tower.

      • wow… I woudln’t have thought either Domino or Cell phones… and now it’s my turn to wonder why – the zigzag sure reminds me of the sketchy reception of mobile-phone-range LOL 🙂
Thanks for letting me know! I was still curious and of course on one hand – happy to have helped, on the other – sorry to put you to this trouble… hope you’re rested now 🙂
